Mnemonic Strong Password Generator
This password generator is built on the concept that it is easier to remember something that you can
pronounce than it is to remember random strings of letters, numbers, and symbols. This generator produces
strong passwords using a set of rules that, based on the key provided below, have a mnemonic
device built into them.
Different people pronounce unfamiliar words differently, so not everyone will be able to make audible
sense of every password that gets generated. If a particular password doesn't feel right for you, simply hit
the button and generate a new one.
There are approximately 9,498,471,450,000 possible passwords that can be generated with this tool.
- The five symbols used in these passwords all have names associated with them. Use those names
when trying to memorize the passwords:
- (#) pound
- (@) at
- (!) bang
- (-) dash
- (*) star
- if a password starts with a vowel, memorize the name of the vowel separately instead of trying to pronounce it
based on the next character.
- 8 letters in a row should be treated as two separate sound chunks, and not as a single word
- Look at the pronunciation, then say it (aloud or in your head) while looking at the actual password. Associate the sounds
with the password itself.
